Beekeepers fencing the bees into their treetop (tree midsection?) hive for the night.
This was a really cool project that we got to watch at the farm. The tree in front of Curtis and Julie's new house, while lush and green appearing, was rotten through the middle and needed to be removed, but that rotten middle was also home to a very large honeybee hive. Not wanting to hurt the bees, they contacted local beekeepers until they found a group willing to take on the task of removing them safely. Tonight we watched them fence them in just as dark was falling and they were settling in for the night. Tomorrow the tree removal company will fell the tree, keeping the mid-section whole, then tomorrow night the beekeepers will return to extract the hive.
