Second semster!
The high school kids in our district go back to school in person part time this week. It will be a rotating schedule, with half the students there two days, the other half two other days, the kids not at scool Zooming in from home, and the fifth day, actually Wednesday, reserved for, I don't know, sanity's sake? I mentioned at the beginning of the school year that we opted to enroll Calvin in the public school for band only again, as we have been for the past few years, but also to declare him as home-based for the full year, meaning he, along with about a third to a quarter of the high school students in our district, will be Zooming in from home all year long regardless of in-person opportunities. Right now I'm feeling very thankful for both that option, and having taken it. With one of the new, more contagious, strains of the virus just recently confirmed in our county, and even the university issuing stay-at-home orders on campus, being home feels like the safest, surest thing right now.
Day 11 in 2021
Last year, when the pandemic arrived and we first became acquainted with the asceticism of quarantine isolation, I optimistically created a post category titled Pandemic 2020. Foolish. So here we are in January of 2021, following the short winter break and the ushering in of a brand new year...still attending dance class in the basement, choir practice in the bedroom, and bassoon lessons in the sitting room.
